Fundraising Experience

Doug Steigerwald has raised funds both as Director of Graduate Studies for the Economics Department and as Director of the American Economic Association’s Summer Training Program. As Director of Graduate Studies he raised nearly $650,000 for graduate student fellowships in 3 years. This was more than double the amount that had been raised over the previous 30 years. As Chair of the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Fellowship Panel in Economics, Doug oversees distribution of nearly 50 fellowships annually. In 2009 he was the only panel chair selected to serve on the NSF’s Committee of Visitors, which provides an external review of the entire Fellowship program.

As Director of the Summer Training Program, Doug has helped raise $150,000 from industry and academia, together with nearly $875,000 in grants from the American Economic Association and the National Science Foundation.
